We may think Pokesdown station is the centre of our area, but in the 18th century Pokesdown was a centred near the roads around Sunnyhill Road and Sandy Lane.
Before the train line was the driving force behind the growth of the settlement, this farming and working area was a small community.
Below you can see the massive change. Unfortunately the farmers cottage that would have been around Sunnyhill or Oxford Avenue has long gone.
